Fredericksburg is home to the renowned National Museum of the Pacific War, located here in honor of Fleet Admiral Chester Nimitz, a hometown hero who commanded the U.S. Pacific Fleet during World War II. Born in Fredericksburg on February 24, 1885, Admiral Nimitz is remembered as one of America’s great military leaders.
