Weatherstone's Weaning Cabin Suite |
Living Room in the Weaning Cabin Suite
Colonel Paul Kennison moved this 1800s log cabin from Belton, Texas in 1972. For years it was located behind a large Belton home which housed a large family. As each child married, the couple lived in this cabin until they could make it on their own. That is why it is called the "Weaning Cabin". You will notice the ax marks on the hand cut cedar logs and the old original chinking between the logs on the north wall. A working fireplace adds to the comfort of the cabin. The suite has cable television, individually controlled heating and air conditioning and its own private entrance. The bathroom has a tub/shower combination.
The Weaning Cabin's pleasant bedroom offers a king size bed and large pine armoire. The room opens to its own garden. The owners designed the stone wall of the garden. Guests enjoy watching the birds while sipping their morning coffee in their own private garden.

Weatherstone's Corn Crib Suite

The Corn Crib cabin was built in 1859 on the Rose Plantation here in Salado and was used as a corn crib for many years. The Rose Mansion on the Plantation was build by Major A.J. Rose, an early president of Texas A & M. Saddle notch logs were used in the construction of this cabin. The logs are of cedar and elm. With a king size bed in the bedroom, the twin beds, and the queen size fold out sofa bed this suite will accommodate six people.
The living room and porch of the Corn Crib suite overlook Pace Park and the beautiful spring-fed Salado Creek. The porch and arbor are perfect for sitting in the rockers and watching the creek and the horse drawn carriages go by. Salado Creek was awarded the first historical marker for a natural landmark in the State of Texas.
The suite has individually controlled heating and air conditioning and its own private entrance. The bathroom has a tub/shower combination.

Breakfast Room
Guests love to linger in the breakfast room and sample Darlene's scrumptious full breakfasts, which are served seven days a week. A favorite item is double stuffed French toast with fruit sauce. Another savory choice might be her Mexican baked casserole or eggs, bacon and sausage. Fresh fruit is always available as well as homemade breads, biscuits, and muffins. Coffee and spiced tea complete the meal.
All guests have access to the kitchen. Juice, coffee, tea,
soft drinks, bottled water and snacks are provided for you.
Weatherstone's Guest Room
This lovely Guest Room with king size bed is located in the newly constructed home on the property. The room is decorated in hues of soft blue and rose. Guests enjoy relaxing in one of the two comfortable wing back chairs.
This bright room has a sliding patio door providing a beautiful view of the property and the attractive wooden shutters easily control the lighting and privacy of the room. The beautiful 1 inch thick maple flooring was taken from an old gymnasium. The room has private entrances, individually controlled heat and air and a full bathroom with tub/shower combination.
