Boerne (pronounced "burn-ee") is a charming small town rich in German heritage, nestled in the Texas Hill Country. The town was named in honor of Ludwig Börne, a German poet. Despite the tribute, he never actually saw the town. A bronze statue of him can be found at the Boerne Public Library.

History buffs will appreciate the old county courthouse. Built in 1870 with a front section added in 1909, it's the second-oldest continuously used courthouse in Texas and stands directly across from the new one.
